In case you're wondering, the 6th string of the guitar is the thickest string of all 6 strings (it's also known as the low E string).

It's important that you do not move on to the next lesson till you've completely mastered the exercises and have memorized all of the notes on the 6th string.

Exercise 1

Play every whole note up to the 12th fret (ascending order):
  • E-F-G-A-B-C-D-E (12th Fret).

Play every whole note from the 12th fret down to the open E (descending order):
  • E (12th Fret)-D-C-B-A-G-F-E.

As you play each note, say the name of the note out loud.
